For example, the docs for Kotlin Multiplatform list IntelliJ IDEA as a possible IDE you could use, but the KMM docs only mention Android Studios (for the backend atleast)

Android Studio is just a customized IntelliJ IDEA.
But as KMM, being "Mobile" only more targets people that do Android up to now and want to extend to iOS, it is more likely they used Android Studio I guess.
