like a must read
l
nope, the "must-read" is just the official documentation and then,.... just play around.

But there are good books available if you prefer to learn that way. A relatively recent one is https://pragprog.com/book/vskotlin/programming-kotlin
d
I learned a lot from Kotlin in Action

The two mentioned above are excellent. You might also check out @kenkousen’s Kotlin Cookbook, even if he did miss a wonderful opportunity to call it a ā€œKotlin Kookbookā€! On second reading though, I get why he wouldn’t want ā€œKookā€ in the title. Nvm 🤣

Thanks for mentioning my Kotlin Cookbook, which you can find at http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920224327.do . The problem with the current title is that non-technical people think that's a Kotlin on the cover and my book is about how to hunt them down and eat them. So if you need to prepare free-range Kotlins, have I got the book for you

I’ve also heard Atomic Kotlin is supposed to be good

And once you start digging in, I'd recommend https://effectivekotlin.eu/. Some very good suggestions and discussions

I wouldn't call "Kotlin in Action" a must read, but a "Why not read?... It's such a clear, enjoyable read that I think you're loosing out if you're not reading it... Read it about 2 years ago, so it may be a bit dated now, not sure if they have new editions? Kotlin is moving fast...

Also, I'm currently reading this one: https://www.manning.com/books/the-joy-of-kotlin Not primarily about Kotlin, but about functional programming with Kotlin. Not as smooth a read as Kotlin in Action, but still a very good book IMO.

Programming kotlin was really good
c
thanks guys would buy the books mentioned šŸ™‚

@kenkousen nice book, but I know that my next book will have the subtitle "A Solution-Focused Approach". It will go well with yours!
