- a week of C++, getting discouraged and quitting
- a few months of Python, actually getting what programming is about
- functional adventures with Haskell and Clojure
- Rust

my head kept exploding reading it though and I haven't learned much

I definitely think it expects a certain level of experience / readiness for certain concepts. I wouldn’t recommend it to a beginner. Hope you enjoy your time with Kotlin though!
