When would I tick the “I probably wouldn’t use an alternative” option? When I decide that if I can’t Kotlin I should just close the whole company (that obviously relies on some backend)? Or when in that case I would no longer work as backend developer and do then only frontend development?

That would apply to me for example; I'm currently in charge of developing the website for one of my organization's products, and without Ktor and K/JS I'd just outsource the entire thing.

Agree, the option is not clear, sorry for that 😅. We will fix it in next similar surveys. For now let's consider, that you would change the whole runtime. Fo example you do not want to use Java or Slack to the extreme, that you will change the JVM world to something else.
