Is it really appropriate to spam this every few days?

It’s not really spam and I believe it’s context appropriate. If you think about how this developer can propagate his work, how would you do?

Probably post to a group focused at promoting tools rather than to specific groups? Post content to #feed or similar.
One way to look at this would be if every library or tool posted to groups slightly offtopic would it be appropriate?
v
@Cicero writing it once is maybe ok, or if a new version is released, but even then #feed is probably more appropriate. But writing every few days that the tool exists and begging for stars is what I consider spam, unnerving and a little bit pathetic.

Imagine every tool in the Kotlin world would follow this practice. You would have such a post every few seconds at least.

I thought about this, the "if everyone would do it", but it's not fishing and it looks like good and dedicated work. I think the feed idea is good and "when it has updates" too
It's hard to make propaganda of your work when you work with open source and this kind of thing like linting. Painfully specific.
v
It's always hard to make propaganda, but writing in a channel every few days "hey we are here, give us stars please" is just a waste of the time of 98% of the users that read it the first time already. For posting news that noone cares about, Facebook or Twitter exist, where you can intentionally waste your time by reading your feeds. 😉

haha
I can’t compare his work with facebook/instagram/reddit/twitter general content But what I was walking towards here was just to find an understanding of where this kind of content should be posted so we could maybe suggest it to moderation 🙂

I agree with @Vampire
Can reiterate if major changes made, or use appropriate channels (Twitter) for chatty stuff
k
there is also #opensource where promotes NEW releases
