06/23/2018, 12:39 AMIt used to be a general purpose library with a bunch of utilities for Android. The intent was to be the Guava of Android. This was like 2011. So it would "retrofit" your app functionality. Then I joined Square and convinced them to split it up into individual libraries. But the guy who created it, Bob Lee, didn't want to change the name even though it was only an HTTP client abstraction that was left.
