There probably aren’t too many kotlin + spring boot users out there, so you may well be in uncharted waters.

Why do you think so? #spring
m

Because they appeal to different audiences, and are both still “emerging”.

Emm, I still don’t know why do you think so. Why Kotlin and spring boot users are different audiences
Probably spring boot most popular JVM framework after Spring itself

Spring is pretty much the antithesis of “new and exciting”. It’s the IBM of Java libraries. I’m assuming that people aren’t using Kotlin because it’s old and well established, because it’s neither of those things. (Which is no knock against Kotlin; I obviously use and enjoy it.)

Which frameworks do you use as an alternative to an application server
48% percents
4 times more than 2nd place - netty
42% of “web frameworks” is Spring Boot, same as Spring MVC

That question makes no sense to me; Netty does not compete at all with Spring MVC.

Yes, it’s only about “alternative to an application server”
for Web Frameworks is 42%
m

06/12/2018, 1:54 AM
Can you explain to me how Spring MVC and Netty solve similar problems?

oh, just check stats
m

06/12/2018, 1:55 AM
I have read the article.

I just want to say that Spring Boot is most popular choice for web frameworks and most popular replacement for application servers

Cool. You’re welcome to have that opinion. However, that doesn’t really ahve anything to do with my comment above.

It’s not my opinion, just stats
and I see this my own eyes, spring boot is much more popular than anything else
m

mp

06/12/2018, 1:57 AM
Do the stats, flawed though they may be, say anything about Kotlin + Spring Boot usage together?
No they do not. Which is what my comment above was about.

Web back-end is same as popular type of application for Kotlin developers as mobile

As I mentioned, I have read the article. It doesn’t say anything about spring boot + kotlin.
Perhaps when the raw data is released, there will be some interesting conclusions to draw.

Just a super simple example, spring boot demo with Kotlin https://github.com/sdeleuze/spring-boot-kotlin-demo
and official support of Kotlin from Spring team

I’m sure there are non-zero users of kotlin + spring boot.
You seem to be trying to argue against some point which isn’t the one I’m making.
g

My point that Kotlin + Spring boot is probably biggest part of Kotlin devs after Kotlin + Android
if we talking about frameworks
and it’s definitely not “uncharted waters”
m

06/12/2018, 2:02 AM
Which isn’t what my initial comment was about.
This thread is going in circles, I’m done here.

Maybe @sdeleuze could share some stats about Spring builder. Which part of projects uses Kotlin and Spring boot https://start.spring.io/
Which isn’t what my initial comment was about.
What about those 2 statements:
you may well be in uncharted waters
aren’t too many kotlin + spring boot users out there
