so regarding https://github.com/JetBrains/kotlin-web-site/blob/master/pages/community/slackccugl.md:
- threads are a bit of a controversial topic. if we encourage them, we should state how to correctly use them.
- we have both #beginner and #getting-started, aren't those kinda the same?
- I would suggest adding to the list: #feed, #random, #spring

kirillrakhman: please just send pull request. I didn’t want to list EVERY channel but most relevant ones. Regarding Beginners and getting-started, yeah I guess in a way they are. Maybe we could merge them? @orangy ?

not sure about the threads. sometimes we have both discussions in the channel as well as a thread. that's not helpful

I didn’t know there was a lot of controversy around threads. I agree they’re not the best design but I do believe that they at least provide some sort of picture of a conversation and allow us to follow it.
Especially if someone is not part of the conversation but would like to jump in at some point.

yeah I know. I have seen jake speak out against threads a couple of times.
how about an addtional rule: don't mention the developers directly when you're asking a general question.

I mean again I have no strong opinions on threads. If it’s so controversial we can make it more lenient in wording. Regarding the other addition, as in not bugging the specific developers of things? Yeah I guess….
Is that currently an issue?
