Yeah, it makes sense when you have one ad for more than one tier, e.g. in our company we have salary range from x up to 10x, which means lowest salary is 1/10th of the highest, from junior trainee who kinda knows syntax of the language up to a team lead.
Usually it makes sense though to limit the tiers in one ad, but even then 1x - 2x is ok in my opinion.
