UX question: should the default action (double click) be to edit a script or run it?

i think if people want to edit files thats what context menu integration is for
i assume you mean openeing it from file explorers
but then again, how much use is executing a buildscript without the ability to pass tasks or arguments?
maybe it should open a interactive shell when not exected inside a shell already?

or let people configure their file assosciations on their own
i believe the right way will present itself and can then be adopted
