Hi! my proposal “Fight Complexity with Functional Programming” got selected for “JBCNConf - 2020 (https://www.jbcnconf.com/2020/)” to be held in Barcelona this July. I am from Hyderabad, India. JBCNConf is a non-profit conference and doesn’t cover travel/accommodation expenses. I am trying to get sponsorship from my organization. So to discuss with my manager, I would like to know how popular and prestigious is JBCNConf in JVM world. Can someone please help me with some relevant details. Thanks.

That’s the first time I heard about them. Also it’s a bit weird to see that they’re a non-profit conference in Europe when the regular ticket is 311 Euro 🧐
n
they are pretty well-known in the jvm space but i’ve never been there
g
@nfrankel Thanks. Do you think it’s worth to travel from India to Barcelona with personal expenses or ask my manager for sponsorship?
n
@Gopal S Akshintala that unfortunately depends entirely on you i don’t know your context... but if you’re tagging each slide with your company logo and have a slide introducing your company then i’d definitely ask your manager for sponsorship

Thanks @nfrankel

If they don't cover expenses for speakers, that's a big red flag in my book.

You are spending money to make them money. No thanks.

@cedric that’s why I asked this question, can I trade-off the costs with the exposure they offer?
