I keep thinking the same whenever I write it 😁
Yet I like it for its simplicity.

i still use assertj (there are some thin kotlin wrappers around it to fix the fact that assertJ uses an as function which is a reserved keyword in kotlin

but you can use it even without a wrapper if you dont mind the ` around the as call
