@amanda.hinchman-dominguez That's how it's always been, openjdk on Linux doesn't include JavaFX. I normally like to install Oracle JDK, or you can as you've figured out just install openjfx as well. This will be a moot point as we target JDK11 and the decoupled JavaFX of course 🙂
