@napperley i just downloaded the file on ubuntu. it saved as a .mov and was playable with both the VLC and the default video player.

That could explain why the video won't play. Using Linux Mint 17 LTS which is based on Ubuntu 14.04. Might be a case of a key video library (older version) which doesn't support the video/x-gst-fourcc-hvc1 MIME type.

whoops! it's 17.10. I plan on doing some videos on this, maybe writing a little Qt code to see how things are better. In the video, you see me attempting to resize a SplitPane with touch. However, half the operations don't take and I need to repeat the drag operations several times.
