Hello, we're using Gradle 7.1 and were wondering is there any optimization done for multi-modules projects by default? For instance, if Module A depends on Module B and we make a change to Module A, then would Gradle only recompile Module A? Or should we make sure to enable incremental build (which seems to be at the class level)?

Yes, the tasks for Module B will be UP-TO-DATE because their inputs haven't changed - if that's not what you see, you probably have a input normalization problem. Java compilation is also incremental by default, and classpath inputs are ABI aware so you'd also be UP-TO-DATE if the Module B didn't materially change binary compatibility
