Gradle team now works on this problem: https://github.com/gradle/gradle/issues/1085 https://github.com/gradle/gradle/issues/5960 Probably some parts of this epic will be available on Gradle 4.10

Yes, delete is fine, you just cleared caches of Gradle wrapper
