All the documentation is out of date for everything, I have spent about 2 days trying to get everything to just work and its not, its super frustrating

Yeah, same here, in the end you start to feel how to resolve issues and where to prod the code to make it work 😄 One also gets used to running ./gradlew --stop several times a day 😄
