I keep thinking I'm gonna send my kids to free college abroad (higher education is expensive in the US), but this lack of FP makes me wonder 😂

Our oldest is getting to college age and Univ. of Minnesota in-state four-year we estimate will cost ~$125,000
She is also talking about Stanford & Duke which would cost ~$250,000 - $280,000 over four years

I suggested several European schools to her but she wasn't as interested in that as I had hoped

Most degrees are actually better in the Public Universities here in Portugal than in privates, only some very specific private schools have more prestigious economics degrees. So for stuff like CS, I would recomend University of Minho! The payment is as much as a public university can ask: 1k€ a year. So basically nothing comparing to US. A 3 year bachelor is 3k.... Also, the dorms rents are bellow 200€ month, it was around 100€ when I was there, but lot's of people could apply to get everything for free.
Send your kid to Braga! let him learn FP, Program Calculi, Category Theory, all there!
