I tried combining them into one but I only managed to come up with ugly solutions, the dependency on the register value for part 1 always got in the way.

Funny enough, I combined them without too many problems, and completely overlooked the register dependency. But that didn't seem to matter for the test input, and neither did it for my input ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
