well, I'm in the US often enough, as I'm in plenty of other countries ... comes with the job 🙂

Yeah, it seems more common for European engineers to travel around, including to the US, than for American engineers, but that may just be a sampling bias on my part.
d
I think it depends on roles. And that it's more expensive / harder to travel in the US than it is within the EU to some degree, no widely used inter-state train system for example.
r
That's fair. I do miss a good public transit system. You're only options here are an expensive flight or long time behind the wheel.
d
Yeah 😞 And as a bonus, if you fly, you have to deal with the TSA.

Trains were so much more pleasant.
d
I've liked the trains when I've spent time in Europe. Parts of the US have almost-adequate train coverage for local travel at least.
n
Well not doing too much engineering anymore, more developer relations 🙂
incl Global Entry to get in / out the US quickly 🙂
flights are not more expensive than they are in Europe, especially if you fly over country borders
r
They're more expensive than trains though.
n
well that's not a valid measurement, it just says that trains in Germany are too expensive 😉
50min flight 250-300€ return flight, ~200€ by train
d
That's overpriced =p
n
well it's a 4h train ride 😉
d
I mean the train ride is.
n
true 😄
