I think compose icons package must be separate from material package. It’s strange to import material package when using material 3 components

Well that is temporary since the current Material icons package is from Material2, and to my knowledge the icons haven’t substantially changed. There is also the current limitation with Material3 library that it has to coexist with Material2 in order to cover all needed Material components

Thanks for bringing it up though, as we will need to factor in how Material icons are versioned along with the other parts of Material3 as we approach beta for Material3

Yes, we’re thinking about this - the same is also true for `material-ripple` , which should still be used with material 3
