Oh no. Not this thread again. Hahahah. We should really file a bug for this though. There seems to be a lot of people wanting to match the "legacy" material input fields.

+1 to my phrase: *everybody will be happy if there’s a way to remove this padding…” 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like a library waiting to be born. 😂

Maybe everybody doesn’t. My mom definitely no, for example 🙂

@iamthevoid I’m sure your mother wants to see you happy. Therefore, if this change makes you happy, it will make her happy too :think-smart:

I don’t understand, why using of
    BasicTextField
    afraids so much
Some twists and you got whatever you want

It’s not afraid, it’s reinvent the wheel… 🤷‍♂️ We want everything from the TextField, except the padding 🤷‍♂️
Leading, Trailing, Placeholder, … not the padding

But... I think that material design (here i must use the word that i don’t know because of my poor englishvocabulary, means
    brood
    ,
    grow inside
) inside compose. Material is the great design system, but there are many designers, who want to create something custom and maybe more great than MD. But they ideas are framed, it is sadly, i think

I totally understand your point @iamthevoid. But I’m not asking for anything complex… It’s just a padding 🤷‍♂️

    Anyways… I opened a ticket for that…https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/189971673 I’m pretty sure that it’s not going to nowhere, but…
