I’m curious about how you’ll have been referring to the current UI Toolkit when speaking in comparison to Jetpack Compose? Legacy? Old? Current UI system? Looking for ideas

Yeah, I think we've publicly used the terms "View based widgets" and "classic Android View system"

Thanks for asking, it’s important to use the right terms here. The existing toolkit is not legacy/old, because nobody should feel wrong/ashamed/whatever else about using it

Yeah I felt it was important to ask because it’s very easy to use these terms without putting any thought. At the end of the day, there are human’s behind the curtains who are continuing to keep things running while this shiny new thing comes out. So its important to be respectful of their work and craft.

I've used the term "legacy" before and hadn't it been for your question I might have continued to use it. So definitely thanks for your question!

Yeah I had created an example where I was highlighting interoperability. That’s where I used the word “legacy” and I noticed it in the morning and it felt wrong. Hence I decided to ask!
I ended up using the recommendations from this thread for this super simple tool as well - https://kotlinlang.slack.com/archives/CJLTWPH7S/p1592194060244700

Yeah, “legacy” is such a loaded term. I prefer “vintage”. 😎
