Everything (nearly) in my build files gets marked as an error when I have a broken plugin. Not quite like this, but perhaps it's the same thing?
If you've got google-services as a dependency you might find that's what is. Their original update (4.3.7) was broken, they've since released 4.3.8 which seems ok.
