It's just that some things are changing every week and till stabilization we'll break back compatibility quite often - though we put lot of effort not to do it when it's not absolutely needed.

Personally, I think the weekly announcements are useful, especially when there is relevant commentary that should be surfaced a little more prominently since release notes are easy to overlook. For example, the previous 0.5.0 release not including the critical hotfix mentioned earlier today.
