Day 21
• Finished Unit 4 completing Android Basics in Kotlin. • Reviewed Coroutines
Self-Comment
Android Vocab Words - Interesting find today. • Ended up finishing up Unit 4 completing The Android Basics in Kotlin Course. Overall I'm content with it, still getting comfortable with XML, Databinding, RecyclerView. • There are 4 courses on the developer android page, this second one seems near identical to the first. Will go through it as it can only benefit, but curious to see if it offers new information. The third is Kotlin based, has some good topics but I feel comfortable with these so will probably skip this one to move on to Advanced Android after this Fundamentals course. • The Coroutine and Channels link I mentioned yesterday seemed pretty advanced as it was going through topics I'd yet covered. So didn't start that, but instead went over Coroutines in Unit 4. • Looking forward to building projects again. I'll see how this course goes, may build a mirror project alongside the course imitating some of the topics covered. • I'm weak in algorithms. Might start working on simple problems to get my brain practicing. Let me know @JungIn Choi (or anyone else) if you'd like to try completing the same daily problem as we continue the challenge!
Goals Tomorrow
1. Continue Android Kotlin Fundamentals 2. Read some DDIA 3. Go through a couple medium articles/youtube videos for extra theory on data binding & recyclerview 4. Implement strStr() daily problem?

Oh! Good idea blob sunglasses I also thought that I should practice algorithm solving in Java and Kotlin. However I think it’s better to have some buffer period to set up some realistic goals & put those into our daily routines. Algorithm practice is not my highest priority currently, but always in concern since it’ also my weakness. I believe we can figure out the most effective way to put this kotlin ps thing to the routine, without violating our priorities. (Maybe setting a weekly goal instead of daily goal can be one idea..?) I’m actually not well-informed with leetcode system so if u have any good ideas or track suggestions, I’ll appreciate any comments.
b
I'd be okay with a weekly goal as well. Daily might be a bit ambitious when I think about it 😅. I'm not too familiar with it either, just wanted to avoid spending time picking between it, Hackerrank, and the others when they're all essentially the same. As long as it offers it's problems in Kotlin it's a go for me! Perhaps we can try 1 a week ? See how that goesext 11 weeks of our #100daysofkotlin-2021 I agree with you, about the buffer period. Algorithm practice is not high on my priority list. Especially compared to understanding and being able to build applications, learn libraries, testing, git, etc. etc.. However, I've noticed in the logic portion of my code that I could benefit from it.

Think our goals align somehow! My priority is more focused on android stuff too, currently. But algorithm is always the basics, and I don’t want to be some house of cards(?) kinda developerblob sunglasses Plus, algorithm solving thing is hard to persist alone. Nice to have a partner ! Then shall we have a week or two of buffer period? Actually my friends come over to this island at this weekend, so a week might be not enough for me. What should be the at-least-goals?
b
Take your time and enjoy the island. I have plenty of things to focus on at the moment so not necessary to push. Also nothing is stopping either of us from doing more than our problem of the week if we so choose. In regards to goals, I think we should focus on specific types of algorithms that would benefit us more so than others. Such as Sort, Search, or perhaps Dijkstra type algorithms? 🤔
j
Nice and smart suggestion to focus on specific types of algorithms! blob think smart Great, I’ll have some Leetcode-skimming time starting with Sort&Search related tags. How about casually having this buffer period and discussing again after uhh.. maybe ten days?
b
Sounds great 👍

Nice, that’ll be about Day30 or so - month after beginning this challenge! Talk to you soon blob ok hand
