02/15/2020, 5:48 PMI can see if the paper were about some scientific topic, but if the paper is specifically about a software library... why publish if you’re not going to open source the code? Maybe he just forgot.

02/15/2020, 5:52 PMNo, it is really quite common. I think in general scientists are just ashamed of their code and afraid that someone will find a error in it. I know a lot of cases where guys developing software for science not only not publish it, but also completely deflect any requests for the source code if the request comes from outside of their collaboration. Lately, this tendention began to change, but quite slowly.
