Why there are two separate channels #ai and #datascience ? Why not join them into this channel or into #ml ?

I see in every language slack channel I’m in there are the same questions 😂

Then it's a natural question, if different people ask it 🙂

AI != data science necessarily, although the vague overlap seems to exist. Nor does AI != machine learning, although ML is a subset of AI. This chart might be helpful:

"AI" and "data science" are both buzzwords that have been corrupted via hype and exploding scope. I personally would rather not contribute to the problem by making the two inaccurately synonymous. "Machine Learning" at least has some distinction in what it does, but I would not make it synonymous with "data science" or "AI", but rather make it a subset of both domains.
And I hate to sound like a cynic, but trying to categorize and group all these domains is such an effing headache that it's probably just easier to stop and let them specialize.

yet, if it is unclear to all, how to expect people to publish in the right channel ? we just have to create a “data-buzzwords-related” channel 😄

Seriously, I think the P and NP thing is a huge commonality with all these domains, minus data engineering.

There's no data science on the diagram
Kotlin community does not specialize on those fields much to separate them into standalone channel

I would linger in the aforementioned algorithms channel. I think it might get some traffic with advent-of-code coming up in a few weeks.
Although we might have to clarify exactly what it’s about, since it seems like it would be a super-set of the AI channel and the data-science channel.
