is the k2 compiler expected to compile any valid kotlin file? in one of my open source projects that compiles fine with kotlin 1.7.10 i get compile errors with k2

Yes, it's expected (modulo some fixes in design which breaks some code from K1 as expected)

The whole point of K2 alpha is find as many bugs is possible before proper release, so thank you for pointing this out
