I'd just sync your gitlab repo to github since gitlab supports bidirectional sync (one of the features gh lacks)

While gitlab is much better for enterprise teams (gh is not even close here), nothing will dethrone gh in oss. No matter how bad it gets, the legacy and oss community already here will keep oss pinned down to gh
