What is the default value of kotlinCompilerExtensionVersion ? Is there a way I can set it throughout my entire project?

There's multiple ways to do it, depending on what version of gradle you are on, and whether you are using kotlin dsl or not.

Personally, i prefer to use the version catalog feature for something like this (available i think in gradle 7.0 but has to be explicitly enabled until 7.1 or 7.2 i think). Put this in gradle/libs.versions.toml:

[versions]
composeCompilerVersion = "1.3.2"

And then you can reference that when you set the compiler version:

kotlinCompilerExtensionVersion = libs.versions.composeCompilerVersion.get()
