i can't tell if that's saying it aborted the response because the client closed the stream, or if it's saying the server aborted the response and it closed the stream

Switching to HTTP/1.1 does fix the issue. Do you know what I should try to log via EventListener to try to pinpoint why there's no Throw or errors and where the issue can be?
