As I understand you mention the following option:

This doc says:
_If you want to disable Local History completely, set the retention period to `0`_
But  there is no max value for this option, you can try to experiment and set for instance 365 here. But you need to keep in mind the size of the cache files: <https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/local-history.html#location>
