02/01/2016, 4:11 PMHi! My team and I try to evaluate the use Kotlin in our next Android project with our boss.
We think the technical maturity of the language and tools are OK (the 1.0 coming soon is reassuring) and that we can deal with potentials bugs.
But our boss is worried about adding a dependency to a third party company (aka JetBrains) and result to a "Not Yet" answer.
I can resume his worries with this 3 questions:
What if JetBrains stop maintaining the compatibilty with Android and Android Studio ? Or stop supporting Kotlin at all ?
Have JetBrains made a commitment to support Kotlin for the following (5? I don't know) years ?
Is the community strong enought to ensure the future of the language (on Android) at least on the short run (something like 10 years).
