maybe your luck of previous java knowledge was actually not so bad after all, then you did not have biased approaches. I mean, I am pretty sure some problems I had when I tried scala were due to my trying to use my java knowledge there too (still think scala collections are overlydetailed and in general I find the language too abstract, while kotlin is quite practical)
