This is a slack for the kotlin language. Just because a codebase might have some kotlin code in it doesn’t make every issue about that codebase a kotlin issue. This channel is for questions specifically related to kotlin, which also happen to be android specific. If that sounds overly restrictive, it’s because it kind of is, intentionally.

The reason is that this slack is hosted by JetBrains, who have a vested interest in supporting the kotlin language, but not necessarily Android in general.

It’s true there are lots of Android people here, most of whom probably don’t even mind answering non-kotlin questions. Is it unfortunate that general Android support is discouraged here? Sure. However, that doesn’t change the above fact that this is jetbrains slack, and they make the rules.
