Could we draft some micro roadmap to get the new `wasmJs` target out? Folks are waiting for it and it would unblock the road for some other fixes I have on my list like #3329 (<https://github.com/kotest/kotest/issues/3329#top|Node JS tests do not report failures correctly>).

So:
• What would be the right time to merge it once 5.8.1 is out? (It's bee a while since 5.8.0 and there could always be some regression prompting a 5.8.2 patch release.)
• Also, <@U12AGS8JG> could you look at <https://github.com/kotest/kotest/pull/3805#issuecomment-1985373982> regarding interim handling of `kotest-extensions-http`? It seems undocumented, a bit unmaintained and you might know more about where it is actually used.

are you planning to upgrade gradle version in 5.8.1?

without gradle upgrade it's impossible

5.8.1 is now out and we can make a 5.9.0 straight away with the wasmJs target.
kotest-extensions-http can be deprecated, it's never been advertised or documented.
