I am learning Kotlin using Intellij 2024.1 - is there a way I can turn off code completion.  I want to learn the syntax without the prompts and it's hard to do when code completion supplies suggestions.

Open Settings and then type "completion" into the search field at the top-left. There are the options, I think you can turn of almost everything.

Thanks - already tried that - still get grayed suggestions!

I think that's the AI assistant, not the code completion. Try to switch off the assistant (one of the right-top icons or the right bottom icon).

I think the AI assistant is only available in the Ultimate edition (I have Community).  I'll work on GitHub Copilot to see if that may be the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions - I went to File - Settings - Languages &amp; Frameworks - GitHub Copilot and unchecked Automatically show completions under editor and NO more code suggestions,!  Appreciate the feedback,!
