$50/year subscription for wallpapers is absolutely ridiculous. 😂 Also this post has nothing to do with Kotlin! This post is just an advertisement for an overpriced closed source app, which should have gone to #C09222272 - if it was necessary at all.
I unsubscribed Marques Brownlee Channel before after it turned out that his reviews are not independent. With this crap app he further damages his image. Another nail in the coffin. This begs the question what he paid you for promoting his app. 🤔

cash grab for sure - but not sure if i agree the app is bad UI. UI is actually pretty well done

> This begs the question what he paid you for promoting his app. 🤔 Back off @Stefan Oltmann - that's not the tone I expect from this community. @xxfast is a steadfast supporter (and regular speaker for) KMP community here in Melbourne and not a spammer; I feel sure he posted this with genuine reference to App as a CMP showcase. Maybe #C09222272 would have been a better pick but there comes a point where people nitpicking over channel categorisations is more irksome than the odd stray post - a line you definitely just crossed for me.

thanks @darkmoon_uk 😅 And yeah I'm just excited to see a compose multiplatform app in the wild - with a fairly big audience. Purpose of #C0BJ0GTE2 is "post links to interesting things about Kotlin", so i dont think this is spam. Perhaps #C01Q62JMKBP also is a better fit And obviously i'm not on anyones payroll for advertising 🙄

I didn’t know him and see no reference of this being made with CMP. 🤷‍♂️ Indeed, another good possibility would have been posting it in #C01Q62JMKBP together with screenshots. You are right that I deeply care about what goes to #C0BJ0GTE2.
Further thinking about that #C01Q62JMKBP may have been the only right choice if it’s about showcasing UI done with compose (regardless of closed source or a paid app).

Licence acknowledgements on that app has a number of kotlin & compose multiplatform libraries listed, so pretty sure it is CMP

also i do totally agree subscriptions are ridiculous 😂, but thats besides the point

Ok, I see. So you installed the app to see that. Posted with three screenshots to #C01Q62JMKBP and I wouldn’t have said anything. 👀 I didn’t know that you are an speaker and respected member of this community, so obviously I take back my advertisement allegation.

Huh? I don't think is how a license page is supposed to look!

Unless you can tap on each one to read the specifics.

Yes, I believe at least the license name should have been mentioned.

Actually after reading all the comments I’m kind of grateful that this was shared with us. 😄 It’s a story how some tech YouTuber dude build up a big reputation over a decade just to destroy that with a bad cash grab app. So many funny memes already. 😂

I also think this is way too expensive (for me anyhow). Also, lately I’m feeling less positive about the subscription model. But I do get it. We have to make a living. Maybe we should just take a chill-pill and come back to reality.

So looking at the bad reviews.... this is hardly good advertisement for Compose, even if it is properly built or not.
s
Good thing it’s hidden in the license overview and not written on the front page. 🤭
