Can someone explain to me the KMP IDE being based off Fleet? Wasn’t fleet supposed to be the single final IDE?

Also curious about it, surprised that this kind of KMP IDE was not mentioned by name, it makes me feel that it will not be Fleet, but maybe indeed a separate IDEA based IDE, very interesting 😏

Yeah, but the original question still stands
Wasn’t fleet supposed to be the single final IDE?

I also though having it based off idea made sense as AppCode was pretty good & stable already. Fleet has ways to go.

Still, it says "IDE based on fleet", so looks that it will be a separate product

Yea, which doubly doesnt make sense to me, as fleet is not ready yet & it was supposed to be the final ide for everythung 😀

my guess is that they either want to build something more directly forked off intellij OR re-write fleet in compose. 🤷

I think rewriting fleet in compose wouldn't be a very wise decision, even if there are significant improvements, they always can try to make it work side by side and migrate gradually

Currently I'm finding Android Studio is true (Compose) Multiplatform IDE; I can run Android, Desktop, iOS and have best Preview experience. My paid IJ Ultimate and AI subscription goes unused due to this; something went wrong.

So, returning back from https://blog.jetbrains.com/kotlin/2025/02/kotlin-multiplatform-tooling-shifting-gears/ Apparently, it changed again, interesting development (to claim IDE will be based on Fleet and completely change the course in 3 months
Also interesting, didn't see it before, KMP Roadmap has whole section about IDE: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/kotlin-multiplatform-dev/kotlin-multiplatform-roadmap.html#faq
