Unfortunately these are just two misses in our API for now. Some potential workarounds until I get fixes in:
1. The cursor, as you mentioned. Or, depending on the amount of data involved, `getAll(key).take(limit)` might still be more efficient than a cursor
2. It’s _real_ ugly, but until a fix is in I think the closest you can get is abusing a `Logger`. Once you get a log with `Type.Database` and a message starting with `Close` /`Closed`/`Closing` , that instance is dead.

Willing to contribute a nicer way (like a callback interface in openDatabase) if it can be released soon enough, seems little work
