New channel (per suggestion by @louiscad) dedicated to #C0474L1Q8DR things. Why? Because naming is, well, not easy.

There are two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors. (Jeff Atwood)
Maybe we need a channel for cache invalidation, too. πŸ˜›

@Stefan Oltmann We already have #C1CFAFJSK for some of the in-memory caches πŸ™‚ Cache invalidation is tricky because there's a lot of room for the arbitrary. It's always dealing with tradeoffs. Would you really want such a channel ?

Maybe we need one for #missedJokes πŸ™‚

@louiscad No, @hhariri is correct here. πŸ˜…

hahahaha, I would join in #missedJokes πŸ˜„

@louiscad I apologize for my humor. πŸ™ In fact I like the idea of a naming channel, because I also often struggle to find the best name and ask other people. πŸ‘ If you want a serious suggestion from me I would say a UX-related channel where people could present their design mockups and get feedback from others would be something useful. πŸ™‚ Theoretically I have UX designer staff for that, but in practice they never have time, so I often end up doing my own designs. πŸ™ˆ
r
design mockups are most probably 😢 πŸ˜‰

I got the joke actually, but I didn't have an interesting reply to it, while I realized it could be interesting, taken seriously πŸ˜… Not sure about a
#missed-jokes
channel here πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

@Robert Jaros Depends on where you draw the line. You can make really great UIs using Compose (a Kotlin native UI kit) and it's daily work for many of us. But it was just an idea. πŸ˜‰

Are we sure #C0474L1Q8DR is a good name for that channel? We don’t want people to get the wrong impression that we are encouraging conversation around naming babies or new pets and the like. Maybe it should be called
#naming-things-in-code
to avoid confusion? ……….. 🧌

Naming is where I spend the most time, I guess not being a native English speaker weighs in.
l
Not a native English speaker, but I find naming easier in English than in my native language (French). But sometimes (often?), naming struggles hide more fundamental problems. That's what makes it interesting.
