Howdy. Not sure if this is an Amper thing, but I noticed it in an Amper project and would like to know if it's reproducible for someone else. So I have this setup: • basic Amper 0.8 project with Debug.kt file just under /src/Debug.kt (no package) • I asked both "AI Assistant" and "Junie" the same question:
Similar to my
fun <T> TimedValue<T>.loggedTimed(desc: String)
add new
fun <T> T.loggedTimed(desc: String)
that will just call
also {debug{"$desc: $this"}}
• Junie managed to do it without problems, correctly figured out the project setup and expanded the Debug.kt with another method • AI Assistant failed miserably... I created the function, no problem, but did it in a new file
/Debug.kt
(repo root) instead on editing
src/Debug.kt
If that's not amper-related issue, please pass the feedback to Jetbrains AI team 🙂

the task above is just an example, I reproduced it with much complicated prompts as well.

thanks for the feedback, yeah, it's quite a shame of us to work improperly inside our own products meanwhile, I have a question, does it fail miserably in claude code mode? or with junie under the hood?
oh, I've reproduced easily, that's amazing how off claude code is in AI assistant with really easy tasks

No worries, it’s just a signal, not a complaint ;) first of all I, amper is still beta and second- anyone who willingly uses LLMs for coding deserves all the worst that happens to them anyway 😁

BTW just checked - in my case, I was using AI Assistant in "Quick Edit" mode with "Auto" model (Claude 4.5)
