Skiko 0.152 ships an experimental Skia Graphite API with Metal and Vulkan backends. Nucleus currently runs on Ganesh: Metal on macOS, OpenGL through EGL on Linux, and ANGLE translated to D3D11 on Windows. I'm waiting for the Skiko API to settle before using it. On macOS the window surface ports almost line for line; offscreen surfaces will need a bit of native code. On Linux and Windows, Graphite only exposes Vulkan for now, so that would mean rewriting the backend, unless Skiko binds the Dawn D3D backends JetBrains already compiles on the Skia side. Compose itself needs no changes: its layers are pictures replayed onto whatever canvas the host provides. Good news either way, since it could remove the stutter caused by shader compilation. To be measured.
