hi all! Even if the #C0B8M7BUY channel seems more and more suitable for this question πŸ˜„ : Do you guys know of any good keyboards for programming? I never really cared, but after a beer incident I do need a new one now and I thought: why not a decent one? πŸ™‚ My prerequisites: β€’ Should be with Windows layout β€’ Preferably under or around 100 euros β—¦ but if there is a crazy good keyboard out there worth a premium price I am also interested β€’ Need to be able to order it in Europe (Hungary to be more precise) β€’ I do not care for gaming or RGB, but also I do not mind having a gaming keyboard with fancy lights if it is good for programming πŸ™‚ Any thoughts are highly appreciated! Googling shows me either 300 dollar keyboards or are more gaming focused topics, hopefully someone has more insights from a programming perspective

How is this more suitable for #C0B8M7BUY. Are Android devs supposed to drink more beer when programming? πŸ˜› If beer incidents are common I'll advice you to get a cheap-decent one. No matter how good a keyboard is, it probably won't be saved if soaked in beer. If you are in an office and not working remotelly be sure to buy a keyboard that doesn't make a lot of sound (
clicky switches
). Other than that I'd still advice you to not get an expensive one. Programming after all isn't how fast you type or how responsive your keyboard is. All you have to care at most is that your hands can rest confortably on it.

more and more questions in #C0B8M7BUY are off topic, so yeah that is why πŸ˜„ But I am at home so noise is not a big issue, and it was the first beer-cident in a long time so I am confident I will not ruin another keyboard (or laptop) in the short future.

Nothing that inexpensive I'm afraid. And you're right about #C0B8M7BUY πŸ˜‚ I like my kinesis advantage a lot but it's more for making sure you don't have wrist damage. But if you've never tried Cherry Brown keys, it's worth looking for a keyboard with them... https://kinesis-ergo.com/shop/advantage2/

Dunno. You don't even get a numeric with that. You'll need some time to get used to it also πŸ˜• If it had at least a way to move the mouse as well, I'd consider it.

It's the only keyboard I've been able to touch type numbers with ironically enough πŸ™‚

It looks a bit too much for me πŸ™‚ but I appreciate the comment! πŸ™‚

Whatever keyboard you end up picking, make sure it's at least ergonomic. Typing for 8+ hours a day on a straight keyboard will end up messing your wrists and forearms. Microsoft and Logitech make good ergonomic keyboards, from $30 to $120 (using a Logitech as I type this myself)

That's exactly why I ended up with the kinesis...wrist tendonitis from keyboards and mice.

Windows Comfort Keyboard 5050 and Wireless Mouse has really impressed me.
