I'd like to see JetBrains release FlatPak ( https://flatpak.org/ ) versions of IntelliJ, including one for IntelliJ Community Edition that is also published on Flathub ( https://flathub.org/ ). Far more Linux distributions support FlatPak (Linux Mint, Fedora, PopOS etc) than ones that support Snap (eg Ubuntu) by a wide margin.
The article indirectly highlights the fact that FlatPak has more focus than Snap. FlatPak only covers client orientated applications, whereas Snap does the entire Kitchen Sink as the article points out. This is one of the major reasons why FlatPak provides a much better user experience than Snap. With themes for example FlatPak nailed it on the first attempt, whereas Snap is on its third attempt ( https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2020/10/automatic-theme-installation-for-snap-apps-is-shaping-up-nicely-video ) with sorting out theme support.
