hi guys, are there any recommendations of recent books software engineers should read? I’d like to boost my knowledge in my spare time.
y
I'm not sure how recent you're looking at. Any specific areas of interest? There are certain classics like Clean coder that I usually recommend to someone who hasn't read it. Also, Distributed Systems for fun and profit is very good.
s
@yogi not, it just should be in our field of software engineering respectively IT
or computational science
y
Aaah, that's nice. Best reason to read is "just because" 🙂 Above 2 resources are top notch. I'm presently reading Remzi's book on Operating Systems (http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~remzi/OSTEP/) So far so good, but can't give a full review yet. Would love to see recommendations by others too
s
@yogi you want to read some quantum computing?
y
Aah, if you have recommendations - I'd love to. But please recommend something for a noob. My only introduction to quantum physics (not computing) so far has been through a book called "Through 2 doors at once" (again, top notch!).
s
oh, i will look this up
I do not know your background, but “Dancing with Qubits” by R. Suter is great, I think if you had decent high school math it will be a good book with lots of references
recently I started reading Cloud Native Patterns: Designing change-tolerant software - cannot say anything bad so far
that’s it from my side

Nice, added Dancing with Qubits to my ever growing list of books to read. Thanks!

🙂

I read clean code, and i am halfway through clean architecture
it is readable for sure
e
how is so far?

think is fine
if you use amazon, usually you can get a free sample of the book for kindle (you do not need a kindle but can read on your smartphone or so)
like the irst ~20 pages or so
