looking for a new monitor since I'm gonna mostly remote soon, I have at the moment a Dell u2715h, a 27" 2560x1440. Given some restrictions at home (kids), multi-monitor setup is probably out of the question, so I'm gonna stick with a single monitor. 2560 pixel-width is at the moment barely enough for two vertical-splitted windows (two are totally fine for me), therefore I'd like something more.. and I think >= 3k pixels would be more than enough for me Vertically 1440 for 95% of the times are fine, but still I wouldn't dislike some more area also in that dimension. My biggest doubt is the monitor form though: curved or flat. Because I have the feeling that starting at 32" and more, the curvability may gonna help, but I wish some feedbacks about this, all resources online are almost for gaming, nothing for coding. What do/would you like more, guys, a 32" flat or curved (4k) or a 34 ultra wide (always curved, 4k/5k -at 5k a triple windows is possible-)? Also, how many of you are using built-in monitor features for reducing the blue light for the eye strain and/or using some eye friendly theme, such as Solarized (light in my case)?

Why not continue with 27" , but get a 4K instead? Just the resolution bump would give you a huge productivity boost I've been using LG 27UK650-W for the last 2 years and love it. I had tweaked the display when I bought it to reduce blue light - I've forgotten how to do it actually. Just one of those things you do once, get it right and forget about it 🙂

because I'm afraid it may be too much fatigue for the eyes. Take in account this has to be confortable also on very late hours I think I'm gonna go with a flat 32"

idk about guiseppe but I personally wouldn’t ever use my 27" 4k panel without scaling lol, everything’s just too small to be ergonomic at that DPI
one of my coworkers swears by their 34" curved ultrawide panel at 3440x1440
mind if I ask why kids prohibit you from having a multi-monitor setup?
k
yeah half the chance to have all monitors broken 😄

(or quarter?:D)

this is all the space I can take for me 😛

maybe something like this could help https://www.alza.co.uk/alzaergo-arm-d20s-usb-d5626027.htm 🙂

if that’s the exact desk he’s got then I don’t think a c-clamp arm will really help
e
cool object, but unfortunately the desk has no place behind where to clamp/attach. It's plain vertical behind
s
if you had the time and the tools you could consider drilling out a couple holes in the desktop slab to mount arms with a different kind of clamp
e
I know, but endangering the desk stability worries me
k
maybe there are different mechanisms that could be applied
it was just an example/idea
