i personally think JVM will die with new generation, all my entourage (i'm young) hate java no matter what you tell them

you may want to watch some JVM performance talks. I totally changed my opinion on JVM after I saw the amount of ingenuity put into the platform. There is nothing better for writing a server than JVM, and it is likely to stay that way

That's called maximalism. With years passes. Just ask them about reasons. In most cases that is stupid answers like gc, perfomance and "this is not javascript".

Yeah, i'm not the one who need to be convinced about how good the JVM is, it's other people that don't want to understand it 😛, but i guess it is the lack of effort of Oracle to modernize their identity, check their website, it looks like a phishing website, even default Java LaF looks really shit, and slow startup doesn't help too

There is no reason why would you have to use the default Java LaF. Changing it to platform dependent native looking LaF is literally one line of code.
That being said I would still prefer C# for making native Windows desktop applications but then again I don't make them.

default choice is what matter since most people won't bother searching themselves, and default choice often reflect owner motivations
