Didn't know that Kotlin was named after an island!
n
As well as Java 😉
k
Ah true.

Well Java is afaik not named after the island but after the coffee (which in turn is named after the island) . But yea I also didn't know Kotlin was named after an island. TBH didn't know for a very long time that the Lombok library was named after an island either.
n
Would be cool to organize some kind of Kotlin developer conference on this island
p

I knew it from the beginning, since my mentor told me about some "new wonderful" language and the mnemonics to remember the name of the new language -- an island near St. Petersburg (so if you want to find the language -- look for an island near St. Petersburg)

I searched google about
island of kotlin
and I found an abandoned island... I think it's radioactive island.
v
It was wrong Google, which yields wrong search results 🤣

but what makes russians leave the island at least it's a radioactive
v
@Mohamed Ebrahim, 42 800 ppl are living there on 15 sq km -- it's not radioactive. You can check it yourself (I think it's simpler than get to Jakarta/Java), but it's dangerous only by one reason -- you may like St. Petersburg and wish to stay there for much more longer. Also Kotlin from Jetbrains is not radioactive either -- it's 100% safe, environment-friendly, and takes care of programmer's mental health
